I've been holding out so long
I've been sleeping all alone
Lord I miss you
I've been hanging on the phone
I've been sleeping all alone
I want to kiss you

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh

Well, I've been haunted in my sleep
You've been staring in my dreams
Lord I miss you
I've been waiting in the hall
Been waiting on your call
When the phone rings
It's just some friends of mine that say
"Hey, what's the matter man?
We're gonna come around at twelve
With some Puerto Rican girls that are just dyin' to meet you
We're gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, let's go mess and fool around
You know, like we used to"

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah

Oh, everybody waits so long
Oh, baby why you wait so long
Won't you come on! Come on!

I've been walking Central Park
Singing after dark
People think I'm crazy
I've been stumbling on my feet
Shuffling through the street
Asking people, "What's the matter with you boy?"

Sometimes I want to say to myself
Sometimes I say

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
I won't miss you child

I guess I'm lying to myself
It's just you and no one else
Lord, I won't miss you child
You've been blotting out my mind
Fooling on my time
No, I won't miss you, baby, yeah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaa

"Miss You" was originally released on The Rolling Stones' 14th album, Some Girls, in the spring of 1978. Some Girls was unbelievable when it was first released.....the Stones were BACK! There were a few fans who the record didn't work for, of course it was somewhat expected in certain circles to blast anything sounding remotely disco by a rock act (typically the band would be accused of being "desperate" and/or "selling out" if they stooped to the level of following the disco trend), but most everyone seemed to love the funky, drive of "Miss You". The song not only features the band firing on all pistons...great vocal work by Jagger, typically impeccable performances from Stones rhythm section (really Bill Wyman's bass IS Miss You), wicked guitar from both Ronnie and Keith....but it also features wonderful contributions by Sugar Blue (harmonica) and Ian McLagen (electric piano) and a really fine saxophone solo by Mel Collins (as a former saxophone player myself, I'm especially fond of the work of the great rock n roll sax players, including; Mel, Phil Kenzie, Clarence Clemons, John Helliwell, Andy Mackay, Raphael Ravenscroft, Anthony Thistlethwaite, and others).

This video features the full 12" Version that runs at 8:37 which was released in 1978 as the "Special Disco Version" and was the bands first dance remix 12-inch single. A shorter edit (about a minute) of the full mix exists (from 2005's rarities CD "Rarities 1971--2003") and was the most readily available version until the full mix was released in 2011 on The Complete Singles (1971-2006) Box.

A few months back I made a video that combined two versions of another absolutely 100% stone groove from The Rolling Stones..."Dance (Pt. 1)" & "Dance (Pt. 2)". As I was making that video, I realized that I might pretty easily come back and mix it up a bit for "Miss You", since the style and length (of the 12" version) of the tunes is similar.

For this one, you'll definitely see the earlier video in there....but lots more garish color, different images (great to get into Some Girl art!...I also couldn't resist pulling some effects I'd created for another earlier Stones video ("Melody") using art from Black and Blue).....and the dancing is still at 11! This was the kind of video where, as I go along I just keep finding more and more variations of effects, and by the time I've rendered an edit I've thought about even more new ones! After 7-8 fully edited video renders, I finally just had to stop. (I am bummed that I somehow lost a 6-7 second stretch of just the awesome slo-mo dancing girl somewhere around the slower middle section....I guess when I was chopping back for time?). Anyway, this is where it ended up....hope you enjoy it!
