The Songs Lennon, McCartney and Harrison Gave Away 1979 Empty Billy J. Kramer With The Dakotas - I'll Be On My Way

Mensaje por Admin Sáb Ene 17, 2015 3:20 pm

Billy J. Kramer With The Dakotas version of The Beatles song "I'll Be On My Way". The song was originally released on 26th April 1963 and first credited to McCartney-Lennon. In the UK it was the B-side of "Do You Want To Know A Secret?"; in the USA it was the B-side of "From A Window" and the writing credit was changed to Lennon-McCartney. According to John Lennon it was written by Paul McCartney: "This was early Paul.". It is considered to be the first song that Lennon and McCartney "gave away". However The Beatles did record a live version on 4th April 1963 at the BBC Paris Theatre, London which is now available on their "Live At The BBC" album. This recording is taken from the vinyl L.P. "The Stars Sing Lennon & McCartney".

The Songs Lennon, McCartney and Harrison Gave Away 1979 Empty Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas - I'm In Love

Mensaje por Admin Sáb Ene 17, 2015 3:21 pm

"I'm in Love" is a song written by John Lennon and credited to both John Lennon and Paul McCartney. This song was never recorded by The Beatles. However, a home recording of Lennon performing the song does exist. In 1963 the English Merseybeat band The Fourmost made a recording of the song in the Abbey Road Studios, produced by George Martin.

Billy J. Kramer also recorded a version of the song, but the version by The Fourmost was selected for the issue and reached number 17 in the United Kingdom.

Billy J Kramer: "I'm In Love" was a song that John and Paul brought down to a session at Abbey Road. The band and I had been recording and were about to finish for the day when they played this song for me. We quickly learned the song and did record it, but didn't have the time to finish it.

Honestly, I had forgotten about it until a few years ago when EMI America released it as part of The Best Of Billy J. Kramer. A fellow named Ron Furmanek, who is a pop music historian, found the recording in the vaults of EMI and edited two of the takes that we had done into one. It was strange to hear it after all these years, especially hearing John shouting directions to me in the studio. I once again realized what a fabulous song it was and I started performing it on my shows a few years ago and everyone seem to love it.

The Songs Lennon, McCartney and Harrison Gave Away 1979 Empty The Applejacks - Like dreamers do

Mensaje por Admin Sáb Ene 17, 2015 3:28 pm

The Applejacks were a UK pop and beat group of the 1960s. They were the first "Brumbeat" group (that is, from the West Midlands conurbation) to reach the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart, and were unusual for having a female bass guitarist, "Megan Davies".This song by them was released in 1964 and was written by "Lennon & McCartney". which as everybody would know were two of the Beatles.

This is the original version, by Jota Herre, to whom Paul gave the song, after he played with them on a December night at the Penina Hotel bar, where Jota Herre were the usual band. (Paul and Linda went to the hotel to exchange British pounds for Portuguese escudos and then sat at he bar).

The Songs Lennon, McCartney and Harrison Gave Away 1979 Empty WOMAN - Peter & Gordon

Mensaje por Admin Sáb Ene 17, 2015 6:35 pm

Released in 1966 by Peter and Gordon and reaching #14 on the US charts, and #28 on the UK charts, the song was actually written by Paul McCartney, under the pseudonym 'Bernard Webb'

LYRICS:

Woman do you love me?

Woman if you need me then believe me

I need you to be my woman.

Woman do you love me?

Woman if you need me then believe me

I need you to be my woman.

And should you ask me how I'm doing

what shall I say, things are O.K.

Well I know that they're not

and I still may have lost you.

Woman do you love me?

Woman if you need me then believe me

I need you to be my woman.

And should you take your time and tell me

when we're alone, love will come home

I would give up my world

if you'll say that my girl is my woman.

I've got plenty of time,

help me just to get through it.

Once again you'll be mine

I still think we can do it.

And you know how much I love you.

Woman don't forsake me.

Woman if you take me then believe me

I'll take you to be my woman.

07_30_63 one of many songs the Beatles never put on a main album and wrote and gave to other musicians to play. Written by The Beatles for Tommy Quickly & his band as they were friends and both under Epstein's management.

The Songs Lennon, McCartney and Harrison Gave Away 1979 Empty George Martin - Theme from The Family Way (1966)

Mensaje por Admin Sáb Ene 17, 2015 6:45 pm

Written by Paul McCartney for the film of the same name and recorded in November 1966 by George Martin and his Orchestra. The instrumentation used in this version is more in the vein of "For No One" (recorded in May '66) and "Penny Lane" (recorded a month later in December '66). Released as the single you see here, this was the B-side. The A-side being the same tune but slower and with classical guitar, flute and strings called "Love in the Open Air".

The Songs Lennon, McCartney and Harrison Gave Away 1979 Empty Doris Troy - Ain't That Cute

Mensaje por Admin Sáb Ene 17, 2015 6:47 pm

"Ain't That Cute", by Doris Troy. Released by Apple Records.

Lyrics:

Some folks want to be big wheels,
And stand up ten foot tall
But you get wheels that don't have no spokes,
Don't really stand up at all

Each one leanin' on the other,
Dependin' in every way
Needin' each other,
And bleedin' each other,
And doin' it for the pay

Ain't that cute, baby?
Ain't that cute?

Witness chaos all around you,
Violence on TV.
You want the news, then check your daily newspaper,
All about you and me

Each one steppin' on the other,
Walk all over me,
Stonin' each other,
And phonin' each other,
And bringin' their horse to te-ee-ee-ea

Ain't that cute, baby?
Now ain't that cute?
Ain't it cute the way they smile at me,
With their foot inside my door?
Ain't it sweet the way they know me so well,
That they sleep around my floor?

Some folks scrapin' on the bottom,
Think they're at the top.
While them up there don't feel hardly nowhere,
Don't get time to stop.

Each one swarmin' on the other,
Tryin' to find their legs,
Doin' it all night,
Gettin' their chops rights,
And pullin' out all their tricks.

Ain't that cute, baby?
Ain't that cute?
Ain't that cute baby?
Ain't that cute?
Ain't that cute, baby?
Ain't that cute?
Ain't that cute baby?
Ain't that cute?
Ain't that cute baby?
Ain't that cute?
